Gator Swimmer Participates in
Little Lake Sunapee Triathlon
Travis Bouscaren was first
among 218 competitors coming out of the water after
the swim at the Little Lake Sunapee Triathlon. He
finished in the top half of the men's 18 and under
age group. The event consisted of a 1/4 mile swim, a
5.7 mile bike and 3.1 mile run.

Gator Swimmers Participate in
Lincoln Kids Triathlon
Ryan Burrow and Ryan Jones recently participated on the
Lincoln Kids Triathlon, placing
first and second, respectively, in the 13-14 age
group. The triathlon consisted of a 150 yard swim, a
2 mile
bike ride, and a 1/2 mile run. Way to go guys.
Cara and Leah finished second and third in the girls
9-10 category (50 yard swim, a 2 mile bike ride, and
a 1/2 mile run. Awesome job ladies!
Courtney and Ryan Burrow also completed the race.

Gator Swimmer Participates
in Hale Reservation Triathlon
Congratulations
to Ryan Burrow who participated on the Hale
Reservation Off Road Sprint Triathlon! Ryan placed
first overall in the 13-19 age group. The triathlon
consisted of a .25 mile pond swim, a 5.5 mile
mountain bike ride, and a 2.3 mile trail run.

Gator Takes Second Place at
12 & U Age Group Championships
The Gator
12 & Under Squad traveled to Dover, New
Hampshire for the 2008 New England 12 & Under
Long Course Meter Championships from July 17th
through July 20th. This meet saw many
great individual and relay swims with Bernals
Gator Swim Club scoring 1079.5 points to take
second place overall in the Team Standings!

FIVE GATORS PARTICIPATE IN LINCOLN KIDS TRIATHLON
Kudos to Emma Benkert, Leah Jones, Cara Jones, Sean Burrow and Courtney Burrow
who completed in the Lincoln Kids Triathlon on June
28, 2008.
The mission of the Lincoln Kids Triathlon is to
encourage kids to develop healthy lifestyle
choices, set personal goals, and live an active
lifestyle.
The event is
intended for kids of all ability levels, to
encourage them to achieve beyond their
expectations.

CAROLINE BELLI NAMED BOSTON GLOBE
DIVISION 2 SWIMMER OF THE YEAR
Congratulations go out Gator Caroline Belli who was named
Division 2 Swimmer of the Year by the Boston Globe
while competing for Marblehead High School this
winter.
Caroline owns nearly every
Marblehead High School record, including the 100 back, 100 fly, 200
IM, 500 Free, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Free Relay and
200 Free Relay. She set the 200 IM North Record
(2:10.93) and won the 100 Back at the sectional and
the Division 2 state meet.
Caroline will be attending the
University of Maryland in the fall.
The Swimmer of the Year, the All-Scholastic girls' swim
team and All-Stars were selected by the Boston
Globe's school sports staff. Selection is limited to MIAA schools that compete in EMass leagues.

MARK
SCALISE NAMED ALL SCHOLASTIC, JONATHAN CASTALDO
NAMED ON ALL SCHOLASTIC RELAY & AJ GRAF NAMED BAY
STATE LEAGUE ALL STAR BY BOSTON GLOBE
Accolades
go out Gator Mark Scalise
who was named an All Scholastic Swimmer by the
Boston Globe while competing for St. John's Prep
this winter.
To say that Mark owns the 50
Free is an understatement. For the second season in
a row, he is the Division 1 state champion in the
event, winning it with a time of 21.53.
Mark will be attending the
Harvard University in the fall.
Mark and Gator Jonathan
Castaldo, also of St. John's Prep, were also named
part of The Globe's All Scholastic Relay team in the
200 Free.
Congratulations also go out to
Gator AJ Graf was named a Bay State League All-Star
while swimming for Newton North High School this
winter.

HARRISON
HAINES BREAKS
GATOR BOYS 11-12 1650 RECORD AT 12&U
AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations go out to Harrison Haines for
breaking the Boys 11-12 Gator Record in the 1650
Free. Harrison completed the grueling 66 lap event
in 18:47.89 besting the prior record set by Mike
Monovoukas in 2003 by nearly 13 seconds.

MAGGIE CHORY BREAKS
THREE GATOR GIRLS 11-12 RECORDS AT 12&U
AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS
It was a
record breaking weekend by Maggie Chory at the 12 &
Under Championships in Attleboro, MA.
On Friday Maggie broke the
Girls 11-12 Gator record in the 200 Back with a time
of 2:18.93, besting the prior record of 2:22.64 that
she set at the Empire meet in January.
Not to be outdone by Friday's
accomplishment, Maggie came back and swam the 200
Fly in a 220.55, breaking an 11-12 Girls Gator
record held for the last five years by Francesca
Tocci.
Then on
Sunday Maggie accomplished a most impressive feat by
breaking the Girls 11-12 100 Fly Gator record which
has stood the test of time for 25 years by
swimming a 1:01.40. The prior record of 1:02.72
was held by Maisha Moses since 1983!!!
Way to go
Maggie!!!

MAGGIE CHORY BREAKS GATOR GIRLS 11-12 200 BACKSTROKE RECORD AT EMPIRE MEET
While swimming at the Empire travel meet in New York
on January 12, 2008 Maggie Chory broke the Girls 11-12
200 Backstroke record. Maggie broke a 3 year old
Gator record previously held by Anna Senko by
swimming the event in 2:22.64, knocking nearly 3
seconds off the prior record.

AND NINA LIU NAMED MIDDLESEX LEAGUE ALL-SCHOLASTIC
ALL STAR SWIMMERS
Congratulations go out to Scarlet Hao and Nina Liu
who were named Middlesex League All-Scholastic All
Stars by the Boston Globe while completing for
Lexington High School this fall.
The All-Scholastic girls' swim
team and All-Stars were selected by the Boston

OLIVIA PIERCE BREAKS
GATOR GIRLS 11-12 1000 FREESTYLE RECORD AT NSSC MEET
While swimming the 1650
Free at the NSSC meet at Salem State on November 10, 2007 Olivia Pierce set yet another Girls 11-12 record at the 1000 Yard mark
of her swim. Olivia broke a 5 year old Gator record
previously held by Lori Yeaman by swimming the 1000
in 11:43.23.

NAMED TO USA SMIMMING SCHOLASTIC ALL-AMERICA TEAM
The Scholastic All-America Team is comprised of high school student-athletes, who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and have competed in an individual event in the 2006 National Disability Championships, 2006 Open Water National Championships, 2006 Summer Speedo Champions Series (summer sectionals), 2006 ConocoPhillips Nationals, 2006 Junior Championships, 2006 U.S. Open, 2007 Speedo Champions Series (spring sectionals), and 2007 Spring Championships.

PIERCE BREAKS GATOR 1500 FREE RECORD AT 12 & U AG'S
Olivia
Pierce set a new Gator record in the Girls
11-12 1500 Free while swimming to a 4th place finish
at 19:47.10 in this grueling event at the 12 & U New
England Age Group Championships.

On June 24 and June 30, 2007
Leah and Cara Jones participated in the Minuteman
and Lincoln Triathalons. Leah took home first
place in both events in Girls 7/8 division while
Cara look home second in the Lincoln event and third
in the Minuteman event.

EMMA BENKERT BREAKS 8&U 25 YARD FREESTYLE RECORD ONCE AGAIN
On February 18, 2007, at the
2007 New England Regional Championships, Emma Benkert once again
broke the Gator 8 & Under 25 Yard Freestyle record. Emma cut another
.06 second off her previous record set in January 2007 and swam the
event in a blistering 14.45 seconds!!!!

EMMA BENKERT BREAKS 21 YEAR OLD GATOR
RECORD
On January 14, 2007, at
Salem State College, Emma Benkert broke the Gator 8 & Under 25 Yard Freestyle
record that has stood the test of time since 1986!
Emma swam the event in 14.51 seconds.
