Start times may be changed once all entries are received.  Teams will be notified of exact times in case this change does occur.

 

MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed-finals.  Each session will be seeded by computer based on positive check-in at the beginning of each session.  Coaches will receive a positive check-in sheet before each session, which must be returned no later than 30 minutes before the beginning of the session.  Heat sheets will be posted around the pool deck.  Heat sheets will be personally delivered to coaches as soon as they are available.  Swimmers should report directly to the blocks for their events. Coaches are responsible for ensuring their swimmers are in the correct heat and lane.  There will be no bullpen. 

 

SITE: The pool is located in the Dana Center of Bentley College in Waltham, MA.  The Dana Center Pool is an eight-lane 25-meter pool.  Pool depth is a minimum 4 feet at the starting end and turn for lane 8 and gradually deepens to 5 feet at starting end and at turn for lane 8.  Wave-reduction lines separate Lanes.  Timing and results displays are accomplished by fully automatic Colorado® Timing with touch pads at the finish end of the pool.  There are no touch pads at the turn end of the pool.  Spectator capacity is 300.  The 40-feet by 30-feet diving well area will be available as a separate warm-up and warm-down area for swimmers. The competition course has [not] been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4).

 

Swimmers and spectators are not allowed in any other area of the athletic facilities including gymnasiums, weight rooms and training areas.  Glass is not permitted in the bleachers, deck or locker rooms.  Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building.  Failure to abide by rules defined in this notice, posted at the facility or determined by the Meet Referee or Meet Director may result in ejection from the facility.  Only those with proper credentials will be allowed on deck. Directions may be found later in this document.

ELIGIBILITY: All contestants must be 2009 USA Swimming registered athletes.  All swimmers must be registered before the entry is submitted.  Teams that enter unregistered swimmers will be subject to a fine of $100 per unregistered swimmer New England teams entering the meet are required to check their entries with the online registration check tool on the New England Swimming web site.  Please contact the New England Swimming Office for registration information. ENTRY INFORMATION: Entries will be accepted on and after May 1, 2009.  Entries received before May 1, 2009 will be considered received on May 1, 2009.  Entries must be received no later than May 22, 2009.  Make checks payable to “Bernal’s Gator Swim Club of New England, Inc.”.  Mail completed forms (including signed entry cover page and waiver) and payment to Bernal’s Gator Swim Club of New England, Inc. c/o Joe Frazier, 110 Betty Anne Lane, Dracut, MA  01826. (all e-mailed entries must be submitted to Joe Frazier, see Electronic Entries below). All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration.  All entries must include a completed and signed entry cover sheet and waiver.  No deck entries will be accepted.  No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry. Any swimmer who is entered with incorrect swimmer information, or an incorrect or no ID, or is unregistered, will be scratched from the meet until corrections are made per the New England policy. Bernal’s Gator Swim Club will reserve 75% of the total swims in the meet for its own team and any other teams (New England and/or out of district) that it may want to invite to the meet.  The other 25% of the total swims will be open to other teams to submit entries.  If on the first day of acceptance, those meet entries exceed the 25% still available in the meet, there will be a lottery of those teams.  The lottery will be run by the New England Office.

 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to Joe Frazier, the entry chairperson, at gatormeets@bernalsgator.com.  Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file.  For email entries, payment and hardcopy of the entry (including signed entry cover page and waiver) must be received within four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, of receipt of the email entry.  If payment is received within four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, of the email entry, the email receipt date will be considered the date of entry.  If payment is received more than four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, after the email entry, the payment receipt date will be considered the date of entry.

 

ENTRY LIMITS: Athletes may enter and swim in a maximum of 5 events per day.

 

ENTRY TIME UPATES: Entry times may be updated until 7 days prior to the first day of the meet.  No new entries will be accepted after the May 22, 2009 entry deadline.  Entry time updates should be sent via email to Joe Frazier, the entry chairperson, at gatormeets@bernalsgator.com . Entry time updates must be sent as Hy-Tek format CL2 files with updated times.  (New entries will be automatically excluded.)

 

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $4.00 for individual events, $5.00 for distance events, $16.00 for relays.  Non-electronic entries: $4.50 for individual events, $5.50 for distance events, $16.50 for relays.  The Swimmer Participation Fee is $5.00 per swimmer.  

 

ENTRY TIMES: All entries must be specified in short-course meter times.  Yard times must be converted to meter times. (Entries with “NO TIME” will be rejected.)

 

ENTRY CUTS: Entry cuts, if necessary, will be made by the date of receipt.  Teams will be notified that they have been accepted or cut from the meet within seven days of receipt of entry.  If the meet becomes oversubscribed, a random selection of those entries received on the date the meet becomes oversubscribed will be conducted in accordance with New England Swimming guidelines.  Teams that are cut from the meet will have their entry fee returned within four days of being cut.

 

RELAYS: Depending on the meet’s time line, relays might be limited in number per team per event.  All teams will be able to enter at least 1 relay per event. All relay swimmers must be officially entered in the meet.

 

PROGRAMS: $7.00 for the entire meet (all 7 sessions).

 

ADMISSION: $1.00 per session.

 

WARMUPS: The pool will open for warm-ups one-hour before the beginning of each session.  The pool will close five minutes before the beginning of each session.  Teams will be assigned warm-up lanes after all entries are received. The diving well area will be available during the meet for warm-up and warm down.

 

SAFETY:

  1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.  There will be no diving in the warm-up and warm down areas at any time
  2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
  3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
  4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach.  If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up.  The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
  5. No camera cell phones are permitted in the locker rooms.

 

RULES: 2009 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.  Decisions by the meet referee will be final unless a written protest is lodged within 30 minutes of the heat swum.

 

TIME TRIALS: Time trials will be offered at the discretion of the meet referee if time allows.  Time trials are $5.00 for individual events and $20.00 for relays.

 

DECK ACCESS: Designated spectator seating will be available in specified areas of the pool deck. Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff are permitted on the non-spectator portion of the pool deck.  All non-athletes on the non-spectator portion of the pool deck must display their USA Swimming registration card at all times.  Individuals without their USA Swimming registration card will be removed from the non-spectator portion of the pool deck, and will be subject to a fine by New England Swimming.  

 

SCORING: The meet will not be scored.

 

AWARDS: Each swimmer participating in the meet will receive a participant award courtesy of Nike Swim.

 

FOOD: Limited concessions will be available.

 

EQUIPMENT VENDOR: A swimming equipment vendor will be selling suits, goggles and other accessories for the duration of the meet.

 

MISCELLANEOUS: Bernal’s Gator Swim Club of New England, Inc. and Bentley College assume no responsibility for lost or stolen property.  Pets of any kind and smoking are not permitted within the facility.

 

PARKING: Free parking is available in the Dana 1 parking lot which is within walking distance of the Pool’s entrance. Please review the website link below for Bentley College’s campus map details.  The Dana 1 lot is designated at L22 on the map. Parking will not be allowed on the grass, street or any other non-designated parking space. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT PARKING LIMITATIONS ARE STRICTLY ADHERED TO!

 Directions to Bentley from points North:

  • Take Route 95/128 South to Trapelo Road, exit 28.
  • Turn left at top of exit ramp.
  • Follow Trapelo Road 2.6 miles toward Belmont.
  • Turn right onto Forest Street.
  • Continue on Forest Street to the end.
  • Proceed straight through the light, across Beaver Street onto Falcon Way into Bentley’s Lower Campus.

 

 

 

 

Directions to Bentley from points South:

  • Take Exit 27A - Totten Pond Road.
  • At the end of the ramp, take a right and follow Totten Pond Road for 1.2 miles to the end.
  • Take a right onto Lexington Street and go .2 miles.
  • Then take a left onto Beaver Street; travel 1.5 miles (go around the rotary and continue on).
  • At the next set of lights take a right onto Falcon Way into Bentley’s Lower Campus.

 

 Directions to Bentley from points East:

  • Follow Storrow Drive (west) or Memorial Drive (west) to the end and follow signs toward Arlington.
  • Bear left at the sign that reads "To 16 S Watertown/Waltham".
  • Follow for .6 of a mile and turn right onto Belmont Street after passing the Star Market shopping center on the right.
  • Continue on Belmont Street until it intersects with Trapelo Road.
  • Bear right onto Trapelo Road and continue for 1.7 miles.
  • Take a left at the light and follow the sign that reads "60 Waltham to Rte. 20." This is Waverley Oaks Road (Route 60).
  • At the next traffic light, turn right onto Beaver Street.
  • Continue on Beaver Street, which intersects the Bentley campus. Turn right onto Falcon Drive into Bentley’s Lower Campus.

Directions to Bentley from points West:

  • Take exit 14 off the Massachusetts Turnpike.
  • Follow signs to Route 95/128 North.
  • Take Route 95/128 North to Trapelo Road, Exit 28A.
  • Turn right at the end of the exit ramp.
  • Follow 2.6 miles toward Belmont.
  • Turn right onto Forest Street.
  • Continue on Forest Street to the end.
